| As a space vessel of campus activity life under special climatic conditions, the artistic and sports activities area of university campus in cold region, along with the promoting of national culture and education reformation, increasingly reflect its importance, which is critical to campus construction practice and campus planning theoretical research. This research can improve the daily activity life of teachers and students, the health of students’ physical and mental development and the environmental quality of campus. It can make the campus more adapted to cold weather, more in line with the characteristics of campus activity, also achieve sustainable development of campus.Combining theories with practices, the article first describes the background, related concepts and current research situation. Then on the basis of extensive practical investigation and example collection, the article resolves the stylistic elements of campus activities area and analyzes its’ characteristics. Then according to the results of the questionnaire, elaborate the impact on campus design from climate, overall layout of the campus, habits of campus activities and social usage requirements. Chapter three analyze the design strategies of activity buildings, activity fields, landscape and transportation from macro, meso and micro levels, obtain data reference and strategic proposals according to the statistics and analysis. Combined with existing examples and practical projects, seizing cold climate, university campus, artistic and sports activities three key factors, chapter four investigate the design techniques about function, economy and features of activities area.This article selects typical and advanced examples to analysis and upgrade theory, using statistical analysis, field research, induction prototyping and graphic research methods to analysis and solve problems, refine and sum up regular patterns.
