Karst region of southwest Gui Zhou has the special geographical environment and ecological resources, whose geographical terrain, ecology, spatial shape are very special, for the construction of the town is both constraints, but also a turning point. Current urban design research on karst region about strategies and methods is less. In traditional urban planning, special topography region are generally try to avoid to use for urban construction. At present, however, construction techniques and prevention measures have considerable development. Also, the lack of land for construction make the small town in southwest Guizhou must use the special topography, varying terrain conditions of the special topography for environmental advantages. Research on the design strategy of the Karst area has important significance and practical value. How to turn the disadvantage of special topography into environmental resources advantage and reasonable use of urban landscape space is one of the key problems to be solved in this paper. To solve the above problems, the paper is divided into three parts to think, analysis and elaboration. The first part is mainly about the landscape morphology and the urban spatial、morphology、structure of karst region in Southwest Guizhou. Karst landscape has important significance for the Green System Construction of small towns in southwest Guizhou. Make the classification and evaluation about karst is prerequisite for the construction of urban design methods of southwest Guizhou. Also, the summary of the basic rules of distribution and development about special urban space in southwest Guizhou is an important foundation for the region’s urban construction in small towns. This is the soul of the urban construction and the city life in southwest Guizhou, which continue to play a special role in urban development and construction at present. The second part is analysis discussion which based on the "view corridor" about the method of urban design. Based on the "anti-planning theory" and the principle of ecological priority, for towns in southwest Guizhou karst area, karst landscapes priority application in urban construction, and by analysis of relevant ecological factors, the Karst landscape into green Karst basic green control area, karst green buffer zone and urban and rural development, thus establishing urban green space system.Specific design methods, the paper by up to quantitative analysis, looking for urban construction space "sensitive point", a "landscape corridors" between it and the Karst Green System. Use corridor(real and imaginary gallery) to link the urban green space system and the building space. Also, based on the analysis, summarized the land use policies, public space, transportation and landscape aspects to shape the urban design strategy and spatial form of urban space science, and then through the karst depressions series of small towns, the project Karst gorge series of small towns and small cities and towns in Valley series of examples of distribution of verification, the method the outcome for the next chapter in specific cases and test practice. The third part is discussed about this design approach which used in practice projects. Urban design thesis project practice Qinglong County, Guizhou Province as the research object, Cascades green space has a dominant urban development in urban space "landscape corridors’ to the series, in order to build a harmonious unity of urban green space network, and create Karst urban cityscape and protect urban geographical features. Provide design guidance for the ecological construction in southwest Guizhou karst region of small towns.
