As one of the core components in the car, the productivity of transmission has failed to meet U.S. and European level. In China, producing of transmission mainly using manual assembly approach, a transmission contains a variety of types of components, so the assembly process is complex, human factors effect the infactive of the line, easily cause an uneven distribution of the workload,creat bottleneck stations and overcapacity stations, affect the production efficiency. Considering the high investment costs of the assembly line, if the process can be simplified, unify the assembly action standard, assign the work balanced, will help enterprises improve production levels and reduce the risk of investment.Therefore, the article proposed transmission assembly line layout optimization techniques based on a balanced distribution of job elements. Building the context between each workstation according to the assembly relationship and ECRS principles, using questions technical analyze the assembly route, determine the need of each step and dcide the improvement program to simplify the assembly process, improve the assembly efficiency; In order to improve the balance and operability, consider the characteristics of the assembly line, concentrate the MOD analysis as five kinds of the assembly motion analysis table to refine each process into a standard action, adjust the set-place of the station equipment and aids to optimized the assembly action, developed a standardized work instructions and standardized operation time to complete the adjustment of the transmission assembly line layout.d standard operating time, completed the layout adjustment gearbox assembly line.This paper choose the assembly process of transmission as the research object, select X model’s assembly line for the case, discusses the optimization of the assembly line based on ECRS and MOD principles; after optimal adjustment, the beat、balace and output have been improved and upgraded effectively,that prove the effective and feasible of the program. This paper not only has some practical value for the enterprise, but also provide some reference to the other enterprises.
