With the widespread application of more sophisticated electronic control technology in the car, Cars have evolved from simple mechanical products for intelligent mechatronics products. Performance of the car in all aspects, such as security and reliability, dynamic economy, comfort environmental protection, has been greatly improved. The demand of national laws is keeping increasing now on energy saving, environmental protection, security and other aspects, the automotive industry is also moving in the direction of the development of energy-saving and environmental protection. How to ensure the engine to maintain good conditions at work, to achieve the purpose of energy saving cars, which need to continue to improve and perfect the cooling system. Simple improvements in the machinery no longer much effect, intelligent control of the engine cooling system is gradually replace mechanization, has achieved good results.BLDC motors not only has small size, light weight, high efficiency, low inertia and control of high-precision, the excellent mechanical properties and good dynamic and static speed characteristics of traditional DC motor have also been remained, which has been widely used. Freescale developed S12 Z family of microcontrollers, with a high cost, especially for the automotive and industrial powertrain research. This paper adopts S12ZVML128 chip for hardware and software design of the control system.Firstly, development of automotive BLDC water pump and cooling system in the car has been introduced. Then the basic structure and history and control principles of BLDC motors has been analyzed. Secondly, also on the BLDC motor rotor and motor three-zero-crossing detector starts were introduced.In this paper, hardware of the BLDC pump control system has been designed, the structure of the control system hardware has been analyzed. MCU peripheral has been used to control circuit, drive circuit, communication circuit, and supply circuit. Software has been designed to analyze whether the function of each module is implemented in software to realize those like that :the current and voltage signal sampling processing, zero-crossing detection, commutation control, speed detection and calculation power protection.Finally, the experiment of water cycle pumps has been realized in the laboratory. Compare the simulation data and the experimental data with other students, examine the performance of the BLDC pump control system, which has proved the basic design of the system meets the requirements of the designed.
