| Highway is closely related to people’s life and it will affect economic development as transportation infrastructure. Highway is built to provide convenient travel and improve transport level, therefore, more and more attention have been paid to the service facilities of highway. O nly building better and safer service facilities can improve highway service level. Service area and parking area are widely built among the different kinds of highway service facilities, and comprehensive technical indexes have already been established. However, researches on bus stop, bay parking area and viewing deck are barely conducted, which result in few specifications can be referred, and eventually leading to traffic accidents.This research was conducted to investigate highway bus stop, bay parking area and viewing deck. Highway bus stops were divided into different categories based on different locations, and lengths of speed-change lanes of different kinds of bus stops were calculated by using kinematic theory. The width of bay parking area was calculated based on horizontal safe distance and the widths of different kinds of vehicles; then the setting distance of bay parking area was obtained by considering sliding distance when vehicle failures. The proper lengths of acceleration and deceleration lanes and lengths of transition sections under different conditions were calculated by using theoretical method. Highway viewing deck scale is determined by the acreage of parking area; parking number of viewing deck were obtained based on traffic volume, traffic composition, driving- into rate and peak rate of different kinds of vehicles to viewing deck. Then parking area acreage of viewing deck was achieved by calculating parking number based on turnover rate and average time delay. Resting area and viewing area acreage can be determined by the staff number on different kinds of vehicles. Lengths of speed-change lanes of viewing deck was calculated by using kinematic theory. |
