The Sluice, as one of the important infrastructures insuring the sustainable development of national economy, has huge economic and social benefits in flood control and drainage, agricultural irrigation, aquaculture, urban residents living water supply, industry, and hydropower, and etc. Once accidents of the Sluice occur, there will be a far more serious consequence to the traffic and the town’s infrastructure and people’s lives. Therefore, the safety and stability of the Sluice plays a more and more important role in the whole security system of national economics.There are some major factors affecting the safety of the Sluice, the safety of Sluice Foundation having Seepage Flow, safety and safety management system specification, etc. among them, seepage security has an important position in the overall safety of sluice, the amount of damage caused by seepage damage accountes for 32.8%. the purpose of study on Sluice seepage is to improve the stability of the sluice by means of the theory of seepage. Besides, the scientific and accurate seepage analysis provides necessary basis for rational selection of seepage control measures and evaluation for the safety and reliability of the sluice project, therefore the study of sluice seepage calculation has important practical significance.This article first introduced domestic and foreign status quo about seepage and the practical value and theoretical significance of the calculating of seepage flow stability of the sluice foundation for economic construction, life safety and social elopment. this article introduces by details the basic theory research of seepage--Darcy’s law, the basic equation for seepage and the parameters of seepage, etc. besides, this paper introduces the principle of seepage analysis of the finite element theory and the working principles of finite element analysis software, AutoBANK. Also, the conventional calculation method for seepage-Modified Drag Coefficient Method is introduced. Taking QiZhuang brake as an example, this paper calculates the seepage flow of sluice foundation by two different ways, one is AutoBANK software, and the other is Modified Drag Coefficient Method, and collects the seepage monitoring system for the measurement data under the same working conditions, and then compares the results. The research conclusions are as follows:(1) According to the calculation results, AutoBANK software numerical calculation results are similar to the conventional calculation method for seepage-Modified Drag Coefficient Method, illustrating that AutoBANK software is feasible to seepage calculation.(2) At the horizontal part and export part, the results of AutoBANK are bigger than the calculated results with Modified Drag Coefficient Method, thereby, the calculation results with AutoBANK software is safer.(3) Using AutoBANK software to calculate, according to the network divided by finite element in seapage flow areas, it can divide the target into smaller objects, calculate osmotic pressure head and seepage slope values at any point of the seepage field, and the result is more precise.(4) Comparing the results of AutoBANK software and the measured results, the data are all within five percent’s error, which is less than the calculation error using Modified Drag Coefficient Method, and this concluses that AutoBANK is more precise and reliable in calculating seepage flow of the Sluice Foundation.
