Currently, with the rapidly development of the economy and technology, the intelligent building is gradually replacing the traditional one, provides people a high effective, safe, convenient and environmental building environment, and constantly influences the people’s normal life. The Field Bus technology, which has a characteristic of openness, interoperability, highly decentralization and functional autonomy,has been widely used for the intelligent building system. Rely on its openness, simplicity, compatibility and other characteristics, KNX/EIB Bus predominates in the European home building automation and becomes one of the international bus specification in the field of intelligent building. We take KNX/EIB BUS as the object of study and develop an KNX/EIB communication kernel with independent intellectual rights after deeply analysis of the protocol.In this dissertation, we deeply study and analysis the whole architecture of KNX/EIB protocol stack, the function and service of the five layers of protocol model, addressing mode and communication mechanism, and after understanding theoretical knowledge, we start to design and implement the EIB protocol stack. We design a hardware platform which integrates ATMega64 as the communication controller, NCN5120 as the bus transceiver and some other devices in this article. And based on this platform, we design and implement the main communication function of the EIB’s five layers of communication model, meanwhile, some auxiliary functions used by the running protocol are also designed. And then we build an EIB application system to check the correctness and applicability of our own protocol stack, and we get the results from package sending, receiving, assembling and disassembling, and all these results proves that our own protocol stack meets the requirements of the standard EIB Bus protocol.The job and results of this dissertation will be reference to our own version of complete EIB communication kernel, greatly reduce the development costs of EIB Bus, then promote that the Bus is widely used in intelligent buildings, and improve the technology level of our country’s intelligent building.
