Design Of Remote Control Software For Desktop Spectrum Analyzer

Spectrum analyzer is a kind of instrument widely used in the fields of aviation electronics, instrument, and emiconductor manufacturing to measure the spectrum of electrical signals. With the wide application of computer technology in the field of instrument, USB bus and LXI bus had gradually replaced Traditional instrument bus in the position of spectum analyzer. Using Windows CE as operating system, the remote control software system of the desktop spectrum analyzer is designed and implemented, based on USBTMC, LXI, RS-232 protocol and SCPI.Firstly, the dissertation introduces the development of the Spectrometer drivers involving USBTMC, LXI, RS-232. Through the analysis of USBTMC, the USBTMC driver design is completed. The LXI driver and the RS-232 driver design are completed, based on LXI and RS-232 protocol.After the driver design, the communication software module on instrument side is implemented which can provides remote control. The module is divided into two parts incuding the SCPI command processor and remote communication. The SCPI command processor defines some kinds of SCPI commands, and analyzes the SCPI commands from PC. The spectrometer uses the results to perform the specified operation. The romte communication includes LXI, RS-232 and USBTMC communication sub-program. Running in the sofrware application layer, they capture SCPI commands from the drivers, and pass these commands to SCPI command processor. The software on PC side is designed in the dissertation to control scpetrometer. By the instrument interface and SCPI command set, the software provides functions to control scpetrometer to set prameters and return spectrum data, test data and so on.Finally, the dissertion tests the remote control software system on the desktop spectrum analyzer. The results show that the the functions of the system are perfect, the three drivers can meet the requirement, and the spectrometer can well support SCPI commands. The results also prove the effectiveness and practicability of the design work.
