VXI bus, internationally recognized as a new kind of bus technology, has been widely used in the electronic test field. The merits of VXI-bus Equipment are its ability to be easily integrated into different ATS, It has features such as excellent inter- operation, high-speed data transferring, high reliability, easy to maintain, small volume, light weight, good mobility, and so on. And besides it is much more competitive than traditional ATS. Waveform Analyzer grows up with the development of DSP, it is a new kind of Electronic Testing Equipment with characteristics of high-speed data acquisition, large-scale data storage, waveform display and data analysis and processing functions. Waveform Analyzer is constructed of many basic parts, such as signal adjusting circuit,A/D converter , DSP,etc. It can simultaneously realize the test in range-domain,time-domain and frequency-domain by using software. Through the digital signal processing on analog signals, Waveform Analyzer can display the waveform of tested signal and its timing details, survey varieties of waveform parameters. It can perform operation on the test signal such as FFT, digital wave filter, wave computation and comparison, windows function. The VXI Waveform Analyzer, designed by us, bares VXI-bus's function and satisfies plug&play criteria of VXI-bus, and also with Waveform Analyzer's function.This dissertation ordinary introduces VXI-bus criteria, the sorts of VXI-bus interface and the data transmission modes, focuses on the process for realizing and debugging the software and hardware of the Message-based interface of VXI Waveform Analyzer. The designs of VXI-bus coding circuit, register-configure circuit, TTL trigger and interrupt circuit, and the strings command transmission between VXI-bus and SCM are primarily included. Furthermore, the instrument driver design of the VXI Waveform Analyzer, which is in accordance with the plug&play criteria of VXI-bus, is introduced in this dissertation. The dissertation also presents some problems, the corresponding solutions and their experience the author has had during the course of debugging.
