The entity gravity dam under construction in our country is one of the biggest in the concrete dam, the earthquake occurred frequently in recent years, many entity gravity dam by different degrees of damage, So how to improve the gravity dam structure seismic performance is a hotspot of current research. By comparing the entity gravity dam optimization design in the domestic and foreign research and practical application, variable density method, the topological optimization method compared with other optimization method has fast convergence and optimization results more in line with the actual, wide application, etc. This article first to the entity gravity dam stress analysis method of mechanics of materials is studied contrast method and the finite element method, and then through the finite element method for different bottom width of dam body under static load conditions are analyzed, it is concluded that the stress of the dam body and deformation characteristics. Through the in-depth study of structural seismic analysis method, to seismic load at the bottom of the entity gravity dam seismic acceleration time history analysis, summed up the entity gravity dam under seismic load of stressstrain characteristics, concluded that the entity gravity dam under earthquake load area vulnerable to damage. Again through the large-scale finite element software Abaqus as optimization platform, application of variable density method to optimize the entity gravity dam design, summarizes the application of variable density method to optimize the new entity gravity dam of theoretical basis and general method, on the basis of the further study of dam structure optimization, the dam upstream and downstream slope changing point of connection ways, in order to achieve the purpose of increasing dam seismic performance. On this basis, the variable density method are used to optimize the new entity gravity dam design, and further study on the seismic performance of the dam body and aseismic optimum way, entity gravity dam of optimization design for the future research provides a new approach and method.
