Electric vehicle (EV) is an emerging means of transportation, whose zero-emission feature has been paid much attention to by the public. Charging station, as an indispensable facility for the development of the electric vehicle, is the prerequisite for EV’s further improvement and promotion. At present, given the fact that charging stations for electric vehicles in Ningbo are relatively under a poor construction, the significance of designing and developing a number of new charge stations in advance stands out, which is also conducive to the promotion of EV in Ningbo. The rationality of the location has a direct bearing on these stations’ operating efficiency and service quality, thus a scientific approach is required to make decisions. Based on such background, this paper focuses on the location electing of charging stations for EVs in urban areas of Ningbo.To address the problem stated above, this paper compares several alternatives of stations’ location based on the game model and proposes a selecting method on the base of the game theory. Firstly, major factors affecting the distribution of charging stations in Ningbo are identified by the analytic hierarchy process, such as the distribution and moving trend of the population in Ningbo’s urban area, the support to construct stations received from the government, major roads and traffic flows in Ningbo’s urban area, consumers’ demand for electric vehicles, the potential harmonic pollution to Ningbo power grid and Ningbo’s climate and geography, etc.Taking these factors as the game players of the game model means analyzing the whole system integratedly, thus realizing optimization. The comparison between the impacts of different alternatives is regarded as the payment functions of the game players. Ultimately, the game theory model is transformed into the linear programming model, which is worked out by the primal dual path following algorithm. The feasibility and practicality of this method are evidenced by its strong mathematical foundation and clear process.By analyzing relating cases on Ningbo’s charging stations placement, the paper researches the priority of the location plans. In conclusion, the method developed by using the game theory to decide stations’ location can prioritize electing plans, and it is also able to provide sound references for decisions.
