With the worsening global ecological environment and increased risks to human health, the international community and our government is increasingly concerned about environmental problems.In many factors leading to the environmental deterioration, human activities have become the leading cause of environmental deterioration, which highlights the importance and necessity of environmental education of the public.Because of abundant plant resources, biodiversity, and wide educational information coverage of Botanical garden, it has become an ideal place to carry out science education. In order to raise public awareness of environmental protection and scientific quality, research and development of science education of Botanical Garden is particularly important and urgent.Aiming at science education of Beijing Botanical Garden, the author conducted field study, visited and experienced, and combined with research findings of science education at home and abroad, summed up the status of the science education of Botanical Garden and its problems, such as to-be-improved plant richness, lack of features of plant commentary research, weak science explanation power, non-frequent educational activity, insufficient science propaganda, science souvenir deficiency, etc. According to the status of the science education and its problems, the author designed questionnaire about the demands of science education and issued to the public. Through the analysis on questionnaires and the research, the author determined the development direction and optimization measures of science education of Beijing Botanical Garden, mainly including: basic resource optimization, propaganda model optimization, service model optimization, science activities optimization, educating team building and other measures, so as to systemically, diversely widely conduct science education in the botanical garden, and open up new prospects for the implementation of environmental education of Botanical Garden..Research shows that Beijing Botanical Garden science education is a systemic engineering, the involved disciplines, fields, and departments are extensive and complex, we should do overall planning, comprehensively utilize and excavate educational resources, and fully deploy the power of education, to attract the general public to come to watch and enjoy the ideal science education atmosphere through its abundant species, beautiful environment, and rich cultural resources.
