The Research Of Rural Waterfront Landscape Design Correspon-ding To "Beautiful Countryside" Construction Project

Just as humanity cannot exist without water, it was from water that human civilization was born. The relationship between human and water is a very intimate one. Furthermore, water environments have played a very central role in the development of humanity. Nowadays, the waterfront environment is becoming an extremely important part of modern cities and is yet an ecological landscape area with beauty and function; however it is also a vulnerable area that needs special protection. With the development of the economy, urbanization is a natural tendency of social development. Humans are extracting more and more resources from the natural environment, which have already caused problems to ecological systems all over the world. Thus, building natural waterfront landscapes in the countryside should not be neglected while developing city landscapes.In China, there has been a half century of rural development. Our nation is now in a period of harmony between material and spiritual civilization. Building ecological landscapes in the countryside has gotten significant attention from society. From 2008, a lot of provinces all over the country have participated in the "Beautiful Countryside" event. Except for the requirement to improve the rural economy as well as the residential condition, the event emphasizes the essentiality to build up a beautiful and neat landscape environment in the countryside. Considering most of the countryside in China is near bodies of water such as lakes, rivers, streams, and ponds, waterfront areas are the most essential areas with respect to residential life. Therefore, one of the most important projects in improving the rural environment is to build countryside waterfront environments.This thesis explores the waterfront section of general countryside landscape design. It focuses on how to combine aesthetic sensibility, culture and practical function and how to design the countryside landscape through waterfront banks, waterfront arts, plants and etc. The author gives a creative way to design the landscape to meet the requirement of "beautiful countryside".In summary, the value of exploring the landscape design is, on one hand, to educate the public that the purpose of the landscape design is not only for pursuing beauty but also for satisfying people’s daily life needs and giving a special feature to every specific location which is so-called genius loci; on the other hand, to provide a series of perfect, scientific and long-lasting design technique for the countryside waterfront landscape. As an example, the author shows the design of the waterfront landscape for Banana Lake,XiaDao town, NanPing city, FuJian province in this thesis. And apply theory to reality, to provide reference for the modern countryside waterfront landscape design, and to promote the construction of "The beautiful countryside".
