One essential reason for the attractiveness of rail travel is the fact that the high-speed rail is a particularly safe means of transport. The Railway Signal System is an important equipment to ensure the security of the railway transportation. An essential element of railway safety, the track circuit detects the presence or absence of any on a given stretch of track. As the most advanced system in our country, ZPW-2000 A has become an important railway signal equipment to ensure the safety of train traffic, and it has great value to research on ZPW-2000 A.Firstly, this paper briefly describes the emergence and development of the jointless track circuit. The working principles and effects of ZPW-2000A’s indoor and outdoor equipment are explained. The primary parameter and quadratic parameter of track circuit are introduced. Capacitor automatically calculates and layout is implemented by using MATLAB GUI. Basing on the theoretical analysis, the paper has established the track circuit model. The transmission attenuation of track circuit which without, with ideal and actual capacitor was analyzed and verified. A systematic and comprehensive description and discussion on Electrical Separation Joints(JES) is submitted. Then,the paper discussed and verified the length of the track circuit which was failure to checked in JES. What’s more,on the base of using two-port network model, the effect, caused by fixture wire failure of different circumstances, on received voltage was calculated and analyzed, the resistance calculation of track ballast was achieved.Secondly, the paper carried out relevant theoretical study on ZPW-2000 A fault diagnosis. Based on many years practical work experience, the ZPW-2000 A fault was classified. A regular method and a fast method about fault handing were pointed out in the paper. A method, check the voltage from far to near, was summarized in order to deal with Transmission Channel faults quickly and accurately, and the paper also pointed out that the cable induced voltage issue should be noted. Furthermore,based on the case on site, the paper also pointed out that the issue should be noted and the ZPW-2000 A major equipment failure causes and influence were concluded.Finally, research on frequency shift signal transmission simulation and fault diagnosis is summarized, deficiencies and challenges in the study of current research are analyzed and the contents of the further research are prospected.
