Research Of Plant Culture And Plant Landscape Based On The West Lake Cultural Landscape

’Hangzhou West Lake Cultural Landscape’, which covers an area of4235.76hectares, is located in the west of the city zone of Hangzhou, Zhejiang province and it is one of the most prominent "Culture Lakes" with the function of spirit inhabitation in the history of China. In post-World Heritage era, how to protect and inherit ’west lake cultural landscape’has become an important issue. Moreover,’Plant Culture’ and ’Plant Landscape’, as important parts of West Lake Cultural Landscape, have their self-evident positions.On the basis of summarizing the predecessors’ research results, this paper systematically combed the formation and development of West Lake Cultural Landscape, especially focusing on the discussion and analysis of plant culture and plant landscape construction. Moreover, the paper summarized the succession features of common plants, analyzed the historic culture and plant landscape in detail. The results had been achieved by adopting the methods of literature analysis, field survey and mapping analysis diagram were as follows:(1) The connotation of West Lake Cultural Landscape and succession traces.By analyzing the historical changes, the paper excavated and explored its evolution process. Meanwhile, the spatial layout, cultural landscape and plant landscape of different stages of West Lake had been elaborated in detail. Finally the development features of West Lake landscape in different periods are summarized.(2) The historical origin exploration of West Lake Landscape Plant.Firstly, a series of ancient documents with representative and research value of the West Lake were selected. Then, by combing and confirming the species mentioned in the books,133species of plants were sorted out since Southern Song Dynasty in the plant history of West Lake, including67inherited species since ancient times. Also,8kinds of species, which represent the cultural connotation and landscape characteristics of four seasons of West Lake, were given a brief elaboration to provide a certain reference for the West Lake plant culture heritage, such as peach, willow, etc.(3) Case study on plant landscape that represented West Lake Culture.Firstly, through field investigation and analysis, the scenic spots’Spring Dawn at Su Causeway’(belt-shaped landscape) and’Stele of Wu-He-Fu and Lin Bu’s Tomb’(dot-shaped landscape) were chosen, for they owned three important elements:1) celebrity culture directly connected to the landscape.2) strong cultural atmosphere.3) unique plant landscape. Secondly, the similar spots’Bai Causeway’ and’West Lake view’ were chosen for comparison, through the aspects of plant space construction, plant landscape of four seasons and culture atmosphere construction. Through photos and graph analysis, the plant cultural meaning of4scenic spots could be fully understood, so as to provide certain reference for the plant landscape construction and plant culture representation of modern landscape construction.(4) Rethink for the West Lake Culture Landscape and Plant Landscape.According to the results of above-mentioned investigation, three characteristics of West Lake plant landscape were summed up:1) Choosing plants with regional culture continuation.2) Representing original thoughts by characteristic landscape.3) Showing quintessence of West Lake by celebrity-made landscape. More advice were proposed:1) keep independence of the culture of the core West Lake Landscape area and recreate the modern culture simultaneously2) encourage people from different industries to participate in the construction of West Lake Culture.
