Green Building Development In Xiamen And Its Prospect

In order to face the global warming, eco-cities have become a mainstream for future development. To date, China is experiencing a historical period which needs both rapid growth and sustainability, thus the central and local construction sectors should pay attention to the speed of urban sprawl, energy saving as well as environmental conservation at the same time. Energy Conservation Regulation, issued in 2005, got positive feedbacks from all states and under that local governments constructed quite a few exemplary green buildings, while in practice, they also encountered various problems.This article is based on green building concept, sustainable development and circular economy theory, which compares green building development situation in China and aboard, then analyzes the achievements and problems in the process of green building promotion of Xiamen through collecting data and interviewing the local officers. In this paper, the promotion of green building and low-carbon construction are described by three aspects, which are green building initiatives, energy efficiency control of buildings and renewable energy application in buildings. To be more specific, the author will give a comprehensive research of Xiamen’s construction in buildings and its prospect by introducing relevant policies and evaluating Xiamen Green Building Act, the overall real projects, one case study, building energy monitoring system, energy transformation of existing buildings, their technique innovation and products. Finally, based on the combination of quantitative and qualitative analysis of all the work, the present problems and difficulties that hinder green building development in Xiamen will be summarized and presented. Then, by learning experience from other countries, conclusions and recommendations are targeted given to improve Xiamen green building promotion work.
