building strateg February 2014, in the second “Beautiful countryside in China·Wangfenglin Summit” hosted at southwest Guizhou Province, the National Ministry of Agriculture officially released the top ten construction mode for beautiful countryside in China as a reference and model for the whole country(Industry development type, environment protection type, urban and rural optimization type, societal comprehensive control type, culture heritage type, fishing development type, pasture type, environment reshaping type, tourism type, efficient agriculture type). Currently “Beautiful countryside construction is developing fast in Suzhou, the top ten construction mode for beautiful countryside in China proposed by Ministry of Agriculture serves as a great guidance to the construction in Suzhou. I have found urban and rural optimization type could be a solution to some problems in Suzhou’s urban and rural zones while I visited the “Beautiful Countryside” project in Suzhou. However the academic circle are still exploring the theory of how to construct such countryside mode.This essay firstly probes the strategies and methods of constructing the urban and rural optimization type, through the angle of agriculture concentration and modernization, trying to the understand the existing problems and demands of Suzhou urban and rural development by investigating its current situations, it aims to explore the necessity of constructing the urban and rural optimization type in Suzhou. Secondly, through its research into the factors that influence the urban and rural optimization type in Suzhou, this essay proposed three distinctive modes for development(resources type, fusion type, ecology type). Then it starts from constructing the goals, proposes the constructing strategies of the urban and rural optimization type and the coordination strategies in terms of concept, planning, distribution and landscape building. Finally, this essay cites Huqiao Village, Zhenhu County in Wuzhong District as an example to further explore these issues.
