Power transmission line condition monitoring system is an important way to ensure the safe operation of power transmission line, it can prevent transmission line failure and make it a timely failure recovery, and its data communication network is the key to ensure the system’s reliable operation. Thus, a flexible, reliable network with high-speed and reliable data transmission can guarantee the normal operation of monitoring system.This paper summarizes the main monitoring parameter for transmission line condition monitoring and analyzes the characteristics for various parameters. It summarizes the transmission QoS demand for different data in wireless sensor network, then proposes three main data transfer modes of WSN in power transmission line condition monitoring system. According to the specific application characteristic, it abstracts the corresponding WSN topology. Then this paper studies the networking technology of power transmission line condition monitoring system in the perspective of both private network and public network, and designs different networking solutions combining optical fiber and radio relay technology, after making a comparison, this paper proposes specific networking selection principle.Based on the classic LEACH routing algorithm, this paper proposes a multi-level energy-saving clustering routing algorithm-EnLEACH for WSN according to the sensor nodes’energy-constrained problem. In the period of cluster head selection, each cluster selects high energy node as cluster head in turn, avoiding to premature death due to selecting low energy node as cluster head. At the same time, the algorithm introduces a secondary routing node to further reduce the energy consumption. Simulation results show that, EnLEACH protocol can significantly improve the network lifecycle and robustness to ensure a reliable operation of monitoring system.Finally, on the basis of making a specific analysis on the condition of power transmission line condition monitoring site in Ningxia, this paper designs a multi-hop wireless private network solution with wireless bridge communication technology to achieve a network with large capacity, high reliability and manageable communication channel by using point to point and point to multipoint topology, the solution also achieves the data access in areas with no optical fiber or public network coverage, and finally accomplishes the communication with master monitoring station by substation optical fiber network.
