With the continuous development of substation automation system, the number of a various electronic devices is increasing day by day, which demands more information exchanged between these different subsystems. And the IED devices which come from different vendors or have different models are based on their own standards, make it difficult to share valuable information with each other, and for the lack of interoperability, the reliability and flexibility of a system made up by these IEDs are all poor.IEC61850 standard provides a solution to the above problem, at first this paper describes the status of the application and future prospects about the IEC61850, then analyzes the advancement of IEC61850 and introduces the main contents and methods to construct the substation information model of the communication system.On the basis of the communication system model built, aim the information silos and other issues caused by poor information exchange, this paper proposes a compatible interface scheme for both legacy IEDs and standard IEDs based on IEC61850,gives a introduction to the multi-agent system which has a good development trend, shows information integration platform interface with a project example.Finally establishes a information system simulation model by the simulation software OPNET, considering the influence to the real-time of the communication system by the bandwidth, the background of the CPU utilization and the size of control packets.
