Wayfinnding Research On Hospital Outpatient Space Design

Today’s chinese society,doctor-patient contradictions are often seen,and even trigger violence incidents. Hospital outpatient building is the place where patients and their family members communicate with medical staff. It is the most important space hub,and its quality seriously affects the crowd’s physiology and the psychological feeling. Hospital outpatient space design concept is changing from the traditional mode "function-space" to "behavior-psychological-space" mode,and paying more attention to the demands of crowd’s behavior.Designers are attempting to help patients reduce fear and rejection to hospital, through a good space environment, and hoping to establish a harmonious relationship between doctors and patients.This research is based on the practical problem of doctor-patient contradictions. Through wayfinding theory,behavior and place theory, cognitive map,and space syntax, try to find wayfinding problems of Yanan hospital and Red Cross hospital in Yunnan province, and further find out the spatial elements affecting wayfinding.Through the spatial form, spatial characteristics and marking system, sum up "finding from main to secondary, and from area to section room" optimization strategy based on outpatient space wayfinding.By classification of spatial layout and traffic flow, weaken the patients’ anxiety in a longer route process.Through widening the main path and parts of secondary path, and unified set the rest waiting area,promote the traffic efficiency of medical staff.Finally, use the theorys above to guide new planning design in Xundian hospital of traditional Chinese medicine. Theoretical study results will be applied to the actual design work. With space syntax analysis to optimize Xundian hospital of traditional Chinese medicine’s out-patient space in the wayfinding angle,alleviate and avoid the doctor-patient contradiction through building means.
