Since the reform and opening up,the construction of TCM m edical institutions has entered an accelerated stage, and their number and scale have undergone rapid growth. In order to promote the development of TCM and to promote the integration of Chinese and Western medicine, the state has issued several policies and regulations for the construction of TCM medical institutions, emphasizing the importance of the construction of TCM outpatient clinics in tertiary hospitals. In this context, the Beijing Municipal Government has made a deployment to optimize the construction of TCM clinics in hospitals above the second level. At present, the construction of TCM outpatient clinics is not optimistic, and the space of TCM outpatient clinics needs to be optimized, based on which, this paper conducts a study on the space of TCM outpatient clinics in tertiary hospitals. This paper selects the TCM outpatient clinic in Beijing’s tertiary care hospital as the research object, and selects the liter ature reading method, field research method and induction method to carry out the res earch, through relevant theory combing, field research, problem analysis, and finally proposes the design strategy. This paper firstly elaborates on the background of the current situation of outpatient clinics in tertiary hospitals and the current situati on of domestic and foreign research, clarifies the relevant concepts and research objects, and analyzes the current situation, characteristics and needs of Chinese medicin e outpatient clinics from four perspectives: the characteristics of Chinese medicine treatment, the development history and current situation of Chinese medicine medical facilities, the characteristics of Chinese medicine outpatient clinics and the differences between Chinese and Western medicine outpatient clinics by collating the relevant research contents of Chinese medicine outpatient clinics in tertiary hospitals.Combined with relevant theories, the TCM outpatient clinics in seven tertiary hospitals in Beijing were compiled and analyzed from three aspects:location selection, function al zoning and layout, and the existing problems of TCM outpatient clinics in tertiary hospitals were summarized.By studying the causes of the existing problems and combin ing the problems found in theoretical research and actual research, the internal and external influencing factors on the development of TCM outpatient clinics in tertiary hospitals are analyzed from the management level, social cognition level and TCM disc ipline level, and the design elements affecting the spatial design of TCM outpatient clinics are summarized from the perspective of architectural design, and the design elements of TCM outpatient clinics in tertiary hospitals are analyzed through three asp ects of zone selection, flow design and spatial design, and the design elements of TC M outpatient clinics in tertiary hospitals are summarized. The design elements of TCM outpatient clinics are analyzed through three aspects: location selection, flow desig n and space design, and the design principles of TCM outpatient clinics are summarize d.Finally, based on theoretical analysis and research results, the design strategies of TCM outpatient clinics in tertiary hospitals in terms of zoning planning, planar o rganization and spatial design are analyzed from three aspects: highlighting the char acteristics of TCM outpatient clinics, focusing on patients’ consultation behavior and TCM treatment needs, and fitting the philosophical kernel of TCM,and relying on relevant data, the development trend of TCM outpatient clinics is prospected.
