With the enhance of community dependent on power system, ensure thesecurity of the power system becomes more and more important, SOE system isan important means of power system accident analysis, SOE can record thesequence of events of power system, provide the basis for analysis of the rootcauses of the accident. However, with the complexity of thermal power units,the power system put forward higher requirements of the SOE system resolution,particularly the resolution between SOE systems.With the improvement of theaccuracy of GPS clock synchronization, the paper ready to use GPS timingsynchronization techniques to improve the resolution of SOE system, especiallythe resolution between SOE systems.The following is the specific content of this paper:(1) Outlines the important role of SOE system plays in electrical safety,noting that the resolution of SOE can be further improved by GPS timingsynchronization techniques, to provide more strong evidence for investigate thecause of the accident of power system. According to thecharacteristics of GPS timing, adding standby clock.
