| At present, early right-turning treatment in our country at intersection has been morecommon. Since the early right-turning treatment is different from the general right-turningtreatment, the arrival of right-turning vehicle and pedestrian, making decision and conflictbehavior has changed so that the basic assumptions and analysis method for the general right-turning treatment do not applies to early right-turning treatment. The main works in thispaper are summarized as follows.(1) In this paper, considering the application situation of city intersection of commonlyused right-turning treatment, according to the early right-turning treatment, it is necessary tostudy the conflict characteristic between early right-turning vehicles and pedestrians. Andthe domestic and foreign research on the related method of conflict between right-turningvehicles and pedestrian are summarized. Considering the scope of application of differentresearch methods, the research method of the conflict characteristic between early right-turning vehicles and pedestrians is determined.(2) Investigating commonly used early right-turning treatments at the intersection,combining with the operating characteristics of right-turning vehicles and pedestrians, thedefinition of early right-turning treatments is given. And according to different ways ofchannelization, early right-turning treatments are classified. Moreover, through the analysisof the status of right-turning vehicles in entrance of right-turning treatment, consideredeffects of various factors on right-turning vehicles, distribution models of right-turningvehicles headway are established respectively in the early right-turning treatments withstraight and right mixed lane and with exclusive right-turning lane.(3) Through comparison with the delay of early right-turning vehicles and pedestrians,traffic flow priority is analyzed in the area of conflict and the right of way is determined inearly right-turning treatments. Under the right of way, the microcosmic process of trafficflow is studied in the area of conflict. the For early right-turning treatments with straight andright mixed lane, the early right-turning vehicles and pedestrians have the equal right of way,and crossing time of right-turning vehicles and pedestrians are calculated. For the early right-turning treatments with exclusive right-turning lane, according to the operation state of theright-turning vehicle traffic rules and based on the different traffic rules, traffic capacity ofpedestrians is determined during the saturated release and crossing time of right-turningvehicles and pedestrians are calculated during the unsaturated release. (4) The waiting and dissipation process of early right-turning vehicles and pedestriansin the area of conflict is analyzed, and the delay models of early right-turning vehicles andpedestrians are established in the early right-turning treatments with straight and right mixedlane and with exclusive right-turning lane. Using the measured data at intersections, therelevant parameters are calibrated and the delay models are verified. It can be proved thereliability and applicability of the method in this paper. At the same time, it is used by thedelay models for early right-turning vehicles and pedestrians to provide the basis for settingsignal warrant. In order to improve the operation efficiency and guarantee the pedestriansafety in conflict zone, the critical flow rate for setting pedestrian signal control is calculated,and it can provide reference for signal warrant.Finally, the paper summarizes the research results and point out the shortcomings of theresearch to formulate the plan of next step. |
