Research On FSC Racing Car’s Handling Stability

For the FSC racing, good handling stability not only can improve the overallperformance of the car, but also ensure the safety of driver and car. At the same time, theorganizer of the FSC also attaches great importance to the driver’s safety and handlingstability of the car. It is reflected in the games. Therefore, The FSC car handling stabilitystudy is very necessary. This paper used ADAMS to analysis handling stability of FSC racingcar.First of all, based on CAD model simplification treatment, the FSC racing car virtualprototyping is established under the ADAMS/Car. Through to debugging determine theparameters of model; According to GB/T6232-2014, QC/T480-1999, and the track Settings,this paper deals with the FSC Fish hook test, Step steer test, Cornering with steer release test.The results showed that the body roll Angle is big, but rollover threshold is small. So it hashigh rollover risk while driving with sharp turn, which seriously influenced the stability of thevehicle control performance.Secondly, in order to improve the FSC racing car’s rollover threshold, this article throughto the car mechanics analysis to determine the optimized solution. Optimizing roll stiffness ofsuspension system, stabilizer bar and the installation position of damper; Application ofADAMS/Insight module optimization design for the car, the optimized racing rolloverthreshold is2.2, and tested after optimization of the car, the results showed that satisfy thedesign requirements.Then, in this paper, through the preparation of the actual track and field in ADAMS tosimulate the FSC racing car track test, get the performance parameters of the car. It is goodfor the driver play the car performance.Finally, based on the research content of FSC racing car is completed made after a yearof time. In2014, it Participated the fifth session of Formula Student China, and successfully completed race, the excellently handling stability is further verified.
