This paper takes refrigerator as the research object, which is closely relevantto people’s daily life, and use emotional experience design ideas for innovativeresearch on the refrigerator.Analysis the emotional design theory of Donald Norman and the emotionalexperience theory about art of Liu Sha. On the basis of the analysis, this paperputs forward the deficiencies of the theories, supplements and extracts the levelsand the levels’ elements which are appropriate for product emotional experiencedesign. The levels of the emotional experience design are sensory level, effectivelevel and reflective level. The elements of sensory level are sight, touch, sound,smell and taste. The elements of the effective level are function, performance andusability. The elements of reflective level are memory, personal value andpersonalization. Based on the analysis and the summary of the levels and theelements, this paper puts forward the specific design expressing content of thehousehold refrigerator. Focus the group of29-40professional females in Harbinfrom the user background factors and geographic environmental factors, and thenanalysis the background characteristics and emotional needs of this group.The way of implementing user survey is to combine qualitative research withquantitative research. For the qualitative research, this paper choose typical usersfrom the statistical results of the background information to implement householdsurvey. Record the qualitative research results in words and pictures, summaryand analysis the product usage of the users and the problems existing in theoperation procedure. The quantitative research method used in this paper isquestionnaire survey and the results of questionnaire survey is presented in theway of quantized statistical data. Then, know about the needs and product usageof the target users in this region by analyzing the data. Summarize and analyzethe qualitative and quantitative research results on the sensory level, effective level and reflective level, and transform the results into users’ needs and thedesign features of refrigerator. According to the results of analysis, carry on thedesign practice, design the appearance,each functional area,etc. Put forwardcolor scheme and calculate the main dimensions of the refrigerator according torelated data of ergonomics. Choose users to evaluate the product design andanalysis the evaluation results, the evaluation results prove that the emotionalexperience design of refrigerator meet the needs of users.
