This paper attempts to analyse and follow the form-shaping strategies of BIG, so that we could understand BIG’s various while unified design philosophy and gain favorable benefits for contemporary architecture design at home. The first part of the paper (chapter one to chapter two) states the origin of the issue, and illustrates the research significance, the study method, the organization structure and so on.Then briefly sketches BIG’s design background and main practice idea. The second chapter defines the relevant theory by giving a retrospect of the related prototype and typology theory in architect. The second part of the paper (chapter three to chapter four), by summarizing and analyzing BIG’s works that based on geometric prototype and space imagery, explores how prototype-thinking impact on BIG’s practice process. Focusing on four geometric prototype chapter three illustrates BIG’s form-shaping idea combing some cases. The buildings are based on three-dimensional spaces, so how two-dimensional space transformed to three-dimensional spaces is emphasis in research.BIG use a series of action to make many external factors internal force that pushing the form-shaping work to a satisfied end.Chapter four extracts two’lived space’:social space and the culture of congestion from Bjarke Ingels’ s life experiences and educational background and studies how BIG refine them in it’s works. The second part(chapter five)gives a short summary of BIG’s design philosophy as well as inspiration to domestic architectural creation.
