Electric assisted bicycle in our country is developing rapidly in recent years, and the development of it is getting more and more attention. With the same traffic characteristic of motor vehicle and non-motor vehicle, the electric assisted bicycle will cause some traffic interference with motor vehicles and non-motor vehicles in the city. Lots of achievements have been done considering position or safety problem of electric assisted bicycle, but the study on interference effects of electric assisted bicycles on vehicles and bicycles is scarce. So, it’s necessary to systematically study the traffic characteristic of the electric assisted bicycles and their interference with motor vehicles and bicycles. This paper mainly use video processing and mathematical statistic method to make some comprehensive analysis about the traffic flow characteristics of the electric assisted bicycles and the interference which electric assisted bicycles brings to vehicles and bicycles, and related dates were obtained through a lot of observation in sections. For the traffic characteristic of the electric assisted bicycles, this paper first describes the traffic mix ratio of electric assisted bicycles in the existing road; and then the traffic flow characteristics of the electric assisted bicycles are analysed from the velocity distribution characteristics and the relationship model of three parameters of traffic flow characteristics; finally the group character of the electric assisted bicycles is analysed. The results showed that the traffic mix ratio of electric assisted bicycles is about50%; the velocity of electric assisted bicycles agrees with logarithmic logistic distribution; the electric assisted bicycles riding in groups are in the proportion of about30%, and compared with riding alone, the mean and discrete degree of it are smaller, in which the average speed is lower about8%than riding alone. For the interference effects of electric assisted bicycles on vehicles, this paper analyses the interference effect comparison of the electric assisted bicycles and bicycles on the motor vehicles from the angle of friction interference and block interference based on the data, and then the interference behavior of the electric assisted bicycles on the motor vehicles is analysed based on the change of speed, trajectory and automobile lane capacity. The results show that under the friction interference and block interference the average speed of vehicles decreases by10%and18%respectively; the lateral offset displacement of vehicles increases by88.24%and88.24%respectively; the automobile lane capacity decreases by8%under the interference from electric assisted bicycles. Finally the binary linear model of vehicles speed under the friction interference with the spacing (between vehicles and electric assisted bicycles) and electric assisted bicycles speed is established, and F test is carried out.For the interference effects of electric assisted bicycles on bicycles, this paper analyses the interference behavior of the electric assisted bicycles on the bicycles based on the change of speed, trajectory and bicycle lane capacity in barrier sections and non-barrier sections. The research results show that compared with the barrier sections, in non-barrier sections, the effects of electric assisted bicycles on bicycle speed are smaller, but the bicycle velocity distribution is more concentrated; the lateral offset displacement of bicycle under the friction interference/block interference/non-interference are longer, which increases by168.18%,646.15%and90.91%respectively. The bicycle lane capacity in barrier sections and non-barrier sections both are improved, but the former is more obvious to increase by20%.
