The residential building energy-saving technologies are mostly used in urban. Because of rural areas’ economic conditions and awareness on energy saving, the building energy efficiency is often overlooked. In recent years, with the rural residential energy consumption escalating, building energy-saving "to the rural areas " has been imperative.According to prior data, the current living area of rural region covers around27billion square meters, which accounts for60%of the total. The national building energy consumption covers30%of the total, and rural residential energy consumption covers17%of the total. Which shows the great significance of studying rural residential energy saving technology. How to create a healthy, comfortable and safe rural residential indoor environment without substantial growth in energy consumption is a strategic issue for today’s rural construction that must be faced with and resolved.Wanzhou is located in the hinterland of the Three Gorges Reservoir which is not only shoulder to speed up the burden of becoming the second largest city of Chongqing, but also the safety barrier of the ecological environment of the Three Gorges Reservoir Area. In order to providing a reference for reducing residential energy consumption of the Three Gorges Reservoir Area in rural areas, this paper proposes residential building energy efficiency suggestions to meet the characteristics of local climate conditions, natural resources, economic level and architectural style based on the current situation of suburbs in Wanzhou. For this purpose, this paper has done the following research works based on certain foreign and domestic literature studies:(1) Eight towns near Wanzhou have been chosen as the research objects to conduct field questionarrie investigation. This is to understand the current situation of residential construction and building energy saving, and propose corresponding energy-saving countermeasure accordingly.(2) Selecting a typical local residential as an energy conservation study, and use of PKPM building energy efficiency design analysis software to simulate and analyze contrast to adopt energy-saving measures after the residential energy consumption changes, and thus demonstrate the feasibility of energy-saving measures.(3) Re-demonstrating the feasibility of energy saving strategy from the perspective of lowest cost within the utilization period of energy saving equipments and materials.Based on the analysis below, this paper proposes corresponding strategy for energy saving:(1) The residential should be located according to local climate’s characteristics, and should have made every effort to consider natural ventilation and cooling.(2) The suburban rural residential direction of Wanzhou should be the north-south or close to the north-south layout, should be from the south by east with15°to the south by west with15°, and should not exceed the range of the south by east with45°to the south by west with30°.(3) The exterior wall of suburban rural residential should be adopted self thermal insulation ways; Roof should adopt the insulation pitched roof has the Bayu residential style, and set the overhead layer of1.5-meter-high; The exterior window should adopt the steel profiles ordinary insulating glass windows and insulation curtain.(4) Residential construction in rural areas should support the use of renewable energy and technological achievements, which support the construction of biogas digesters, and promote the use of solar water heaters.
