Energy saving of building has been one of the most important issues of the world,however, the chronic slow growth of rural economy are really a large drag on theenergy saving of rural residential buildings. For the good earthquake resistant capabilityand recyclability, steel-framed residence has good application potential to the ruralresidential buildings. Studying of which will conducive to energy conservation researchand will inevitably promote the construction of rural area in China.Due to inhibition of slow economy, the development of rural steel-framedresidence is still at the beginning stage. And the existing mature technology in urbanareas can be used for referencing, but not for quoting directly. Therefore, design andenergy saving issues on steel-framed residence in rural areas are studied in this paper.Firstly,it is be chosen the building through analysis and comparison the designs of therural steel-framed residence. Secondly, energy saving performance of rural steel-framedresidence of three kinds of climate regions in Shaanxi province has been studiedaccording to the local structural of palisade and shading, meanwhile it is confirmed themain influencer of energy consumption in the paper. In addition, it is suggested thermalbridge problem and related treatment measures of rural steel-framed residence. Then, itis taken the major influencing factors of energy saving as optimization items andintegrated into a whole. And then it is proposed a variety of energy saving designdecisions for three kinds of climate regions in Shaanxi province. Thirdly, the totalaccumulative energy consumption annual and the changing regularity of indoortemperature have been analysis respectively also. Finally, compensation life and costefficiency are be used to evaluate each research program and obtained the best program for energy saving. The main conclusions of the paper are listed below:(1) Thermal performances of outside wall, outside window and roof have strongeffect to energy saving performance of rural steel-framed residence, including theconstruction form of outside wall, the thickness of thermal insulation layer, the type ofoutside window, the area ratio of window and wall and the thickness of insulation layerof roof. Inner curtain within steel-framed residence can significantly reduce the airconditioning load in summer. Besides, local external insulation and increase materialsof wall are two effective measures to solve the thermal bridge problem of ruralsteel-framed residence.(2) For the rural steel-framed residences three types of climate regions in Shaanxiprovince, total accumulative energy consumption annual of them reduce greatly bytaking energy saving optimization measures. The energy conservation is35%~80%inwinter, and indoor thermal environment get significant improvement. The energyconservation is10%~70%in summer, and indoor thermal environment get better withthe small fluctuating range.(3) The economic analysis shows that the materials of exterior wall accounted for20%of the costs in the total project investment, so it is reasonably to combine the ruralsteel-framed residences with raw-soil. It not only increases the cost efficiency to someextent, but also is good for sustainable development of natural environment.
