Storm sewer system is one of the city’s major infrastructure, there exists manyuncertain factors during the design and operation process, which threatens urban safetyand human health. As a practical emerging scientific knowledge, Vulnerability analysiswas widely used in related fields such as environmental management, climate change,sustainable development, economics, engineering, etc.Therefore, it is an issue ofpractical significance to apply the storm sewer system vulnerability analysis andsimulation.With the summary and analysis to the concept as well as application examples ofvulnerability theories, the vulnerability analysis was introduced into the storm sewersystem.According to the storm sewer system operation and management features, theconcept of vulnerability in storm sewer system is presented, which contains "risk","sensitivity","adaptation","restoring force" and a series of related content. Both theeffects of the internal conditions, and interaction with the external environment aretaked into account.For a broad area of the storm sewer system, an evaluation index system whichmostly based on structural and hydraulic factors as well as surrounding environmental isbuilt.Considering the strong correlation between factors, network analysis is used tocalculate the right of each index.While for the one-sidedness and poor comparabilitydisadvantages of the traditional evaluation methods, the fuzzy comprehensiveevaluation method based on the principle of membership vulnerabilities is establishedand achieved good results in the storm sewer vulnerability assessment which provides aguideline for the specific application vulnerability analysis methods.In this paper, vulnerability assessment methods and SWMM simulation technologyare combined, to reflect the state of the pipe network operation, an pioneeringexploration on this are conducted which makes the vulnerability model application moredirectional and target specific. At end, a case of vulnerability factors and hydraulic status in the process of storm sewer operation is given. According to the results ofsimulation analysis, the storm sewer accident prevention measures and emergency plansare proposed for comprehensive management decision making.
