This passage presents recent research of storm sewer and the way to utilize rain , and it introduces Chinese urban store runoff simulation model as well as the way to ratiocinate the formula of rainstorm intensity. Genetic Algorithms (GAs), applied widely in engineering in recent years, is used in the design of this rehabilitation and extension project .GAs is a strong robust global searching algorithm. It is not based on objective function gradient estimates, but directly targets at the code in certain form of the variable. They may be used to solve nonlinear problems such as the storm networks optimization and research discrete pipe diameters. This passage introduces the theory and method of storm sewer design on Gas compute program particularly, compiles storm sewer optimal design program as well. The way artificial swamp used as regulative pool can adjust the flow of the urban rain is presented, which can not only economize the cost of rain sewer and rain pumping station but also build water environment .The article discussed the three forms of rainfall regulative pool: ground steam regulative poo!, sewer stream regulative pool, and rain pumping station regulative pool. The method how to calculate the capacity of regulative pool and how to calculate the flux of downsteam sewer of ground steam regulative pool and sewer stream regulative pool ,as well as the cost of pumping station, are mentioned. This article take the Guangzhou Science City as an example, and take three typical sewer types each with one type of incorporated regulative pools as calculation, example. The genetic algorithm (GA) technique is applied to the search for the optimal water distribution system design. Contrast of the tow circumstances whether the sev/er has set regulative pool or not is made , the impaction of marsh in city is analyzed as well.
