Domestic skyscrapers in major cities in the contemporary make land resources become increasingly scarce, and urban ecological environment needs an urgent circulation and metabolism. Urban landscape lacks public interaction, resonance and a sense of belonging due to the blindly copy of western culture and its design patterns and the neglect of our traditional regional culture, leading to the similar city landscape. So does the landscape space of urban complexes. There’s urgent need of urban residents for the third space that can regulate body, mind, and spirit. One of the important tasks of the current research is to find out how to design urban complexes that fits the ecological and humane requirements of the contemporary cities.Folk art is a treasure created by the masses of working people in production and life, a manifestation of Chinese regional culture, and the foundation of national culture, waking up people’s awareness of the importance of local culture, and sense of belonging, which is closer to the local public life. Today, the soil that folk art lives on and social environment change with the process of Chinese urbanization, and the changes of lifestyle is in danger of dying off.
