Research On University Theatre Design

With the sustainable growth of national economy and increase of the investment in education, college construction is growing fast. As an important part of campus culture construction, the university theatre is not only the functional performance venues, but also the carrier of the spreading of campus culture. The university theatre has been more attention.As one special type of architecture, the university theatre has its own distinctive characteristics. Compared with social theatre, the university theatre has different audience origin, user and function, but it also has the versatility of theatre in the stage process and acoustic decoration. However, there is little fundamental research on this type of building at present. The practice comes before theory, which will inevitably bring many problems, such as the coexistence of sufficiency and vacancy of function and the waste of the equipment.Based on the above research background, this paper focuses on the university theatre, and it researches on the design of this type of building. Firstly, by the way of site investigation, questionnaire and interview, this paper conducts a research on the typical university theatres in Zhejiang Province. And from the related information and data analysis, the paper comes to a conclusion that the university theatre is different from social theatre, between the residential theater and rental theatre. The college theatre has the characteristics of low investment, low construction standard and simplified function. And then, the paper explores the design principle and methods of the college theatre from two aspects of planning conditions and architecture design. And last, it puts forward the suggestions and measures, which provide the reference and the basis for university theatre design.
