In recent years, with the development of science and technology and theimprovement of people’s life quality, people need more engineering facilities. A widevariety of large-scale projects require pouring concrete, making concrete pump truckan important kind of engineering product. Not only the makers but also the users ofconcrete pump truck hope the truck can be lighter and more reliable. The boom affectsthe performance of concrete pump truck directly. When the material and the structureis unchanged, the lighter the boom is, the less material it cost and the easier it is to beinstable. So when we analyze the security of the boom, we need to analyze thestability of it.To ensure the safety of the boom, we also need to verify the analysis results.Currently most people are doing strength experiment for engineering products, but thestability experiment is not enough. By doing stability experiments, we can evaluatethe safety performance of the boom from the aspect of stability and verify thereliability of calculation. Based on the requirement of the project, the paper did thestability experiment for the boom of truck-mounted concrete pump. The contents ofthis paper is organized as follows:First of all, the paper introduced the structure of the truck-mounted concretepump and the development of the truck-mounted concrete pump in domestic andabroad, and explained the meaning of the article. Then the paper introduced thestructure of the truck-mounted concrete pump boom and the buckling stability fromthe respect of the classification, analytical methods and factors of the bucklingstability.Secondly, the paper simplified the model of the boom using the Hypermeshsoftware and assembled the model using the ANSYS software. The constraint andload on the model are the same as the experiment. The paper did nonlinear static analysis for the first arm and the second arm. And analyzed the bucking stability ofthem using eigenvalue analysis and large deformation analysis method.Thirdly, the paper made a detailed description about the content of boomexperiment. By doing the acquisition and analysis of the experiment data, the curvesthat the strain varies with load and with position are drew. The paper got the localbuckling critical load and local waveforms of the first arm and the second arm byFEA(Finite Element Analysis) and experiment. The paper got the deviation of FEAand experiment in local buckling critical load, local buckling waveforms and localwaveform period. Finally, the paper extracted the strain value of linear phase by EFA using APDLin the working conditions that is the same as the experiment load, and got the error ofFEA and the experiment through calculating. The paper counted the error valuestepwise and obtained the amount of error in every stage. Therefore, we can prove theeffectiveness of the simplified model. The paper verified the concrete pump truck will occurs local buckling instabilityin certain conditions through the experiment, compared the result of the experimentand the finite element analysis, showed the reliability of the FEM, and providedreference for the following analysis and experiment.
