Along with social progress, economic level, the number of motor vehicles is greatly improved, and the attendant road congestion, increasing traffic accidents and a series of social problems. Vehicle monitoring system is in this context was born, it means systematically solve the above problems, and thus becoming a modern traffic engineering is an important component.After entering the era of massive data, vehicle monitoring system has also ushered in a new development opportunities. In the article from theory to practical starting point, the basic theory of vehicle monitoring system were studied. The main contents and innovations are as follows:1. Development of vehicle monitoring system at home and abroad were reviewed. From a systematic point of view, discusses the overall structure and data storage method for a vehicle monitoring system.
