Mass customization is simply a process that providing personalized customer custom products with the cost and efficiency of mass production and it has become an important embodiment of a manufacturing enterprise’s market competitiveness in the information age. Product configuration technology is a key means to realize the mass customization. Product configuration technology can make use of the pre-defined components collection and the relation between it to finally obtain a product configuration instance based on the needs of customers quickly with analyzing customer personalized demand. This article mainly does the theoretical research and the development of application system about product configuration technology under mass customization.The premise of achieving a quick and effective product configuration is to create a product configuration model with the clear hierarchical structure and full knowledge. In this paper, it uses the object-oriented method and tabular layouts of article characteristics (SML) to establish the product configuration component (PCC) model and made detailed introduction about the knowledge representation of product configuration component including the classification, the hierarchical structure and multidimensional associations, etc. Then, establishing the product family configuration model oriented to product family based on product configuration component. The hierarchical structure and the parameter transfer of the product family configuration model is expounded. Finally the modeling process of product family configuration model is introduced.The configuration solving method based on product family configuration mode is proposed. This method combines the instance of solving and the constraint satisfaction. In this method, it optimizes the solve order of product configure components in the process of product configuration through the mapping of the weightiness of customer demands and the tear operation of design structure matrix about the product configuration component set. This step can greatly reduce the iteration times and data redundancy in the process of product configuration. Then, the product configuration solution will be completed by the common drive of cosine angle similar calculation and multidimensional associated constraints.Finally, a product configuration system based on WindChill platform will be designed. Oracle database is used for storing data form. Java is used for the secondary development of WindChill platform to realize the main function of the configuration system. And the parameterized function of parts are realized through the secondary development of Pro/E with the method of C++.
