China Experimental Fast Reactor (CEFR) is the first step of the China’s Fast Reactor engineering development, which laid good foundation for constructing fast reactor nuclear power plants in the future through summarizing valuable experience in the stage of design, production and installation. Based on the Experimental Fast Reactor as the background, this paper introduces design and development of the Rotating Plug control system.Firstly, it introduces the components and operating principle in the Rotating Plug control system, which includes the Rotating Plug, the control Rod Catheter Lifting gear and the Heating System. Secondly, design Rotating Plug control system, it realizes to control and monitor function for Rotating Plug, Control Rod Catheter Lifting gear and Heating System by using Mitsubishi company production, such as the AC servo system, PLC, frequency converter and man-machine interactive interface.Control function mainly refers to complete the ascension of the Control Rod Catheter Lifting gear and heating function of the Heating System before the Rotating Plug start moving, as well as perform different operation of the Rotating Plug in full automatic, semi-automatic and remote control mode; Monitor function refers to show operation angle, the run condition and interlock fault alarm by using the real-time data and dynamic graphic in the Rotating Plug control system.At present, the CEFR has past pilot run and joined to the grid. It is reasonable for structure design in the Rotating Plug control system software and hardware from overall condition, which make the staff timely, fully and accurately to obtain relevant information during the refueling process through the man-machine interface, facilitate monitoring and management to the staff. At last, it has improved security and reliability of Rotating Plug control system. So, the design task has met expected goals.
