Research on people’s travel behavior is the reasonable traffic planning and construction of infrastructure to ease traffic congestion phenomenon of work. Work trip is the most basic and most important travel city residents. Affects all aspects of city life, working in a big city travel flow has become the main cause of traffic congestion and environmental pollution, and affect the further development of city social economy environment..Therefore, in order to work out the action research object, refining city residents travel behavior characteristics of rail transit based development, can not only enrich the development of transportation and travel behavior theory, which has great significance to alleviate the city traffic congestion policies and regulate resident work travel behavior.Work trip compared to conventional travel with their own characteristics, including the commuter travel activities ranging from work to the follow-up activities of the business. With the expansion of the scope of employment of city urbanization, and the development of rail transpoitation, causing work travel distance is also increasing, which are to a certain extent, exacerbated by the complexity and diversity of the work trip. Track traffic and travel around this theme, this paper makes the following research:1. describes the research in domestic and foreign scholars on the development of rail transportation and the city spatial structure as well as the resident travel behavior, points out the insufficiency and the theory and methodology of this research.2. From the rail transit oriented development and office district employment center theory, analysis the development of rail transportation is how to guide the city office cluster evolution, and then affect the residents travel direction and intensity’of work. The results showed that the development of urban rail transit in Beijing on the formation of the office cluster based work employment centers and growth of a great role, exacerbated by the office cluster of city people and traffic flow convergence effect, decided by the residents travel direction and intensity of work3. Travel behavior of residents from the residents to work and work to the business makes comparative study, there are some similarities and differences:The former shows when the city residents to work travel time in30minutes to1hours in between, both live to work or work to travel, business travel, residents select rail traffic as the main way to travel, and transfer times in the2. Construction of Logit model, the quantitative analysis of the effects of the individual who work, family, social and economic factors on the traffic mode choice, and the model of the statistical tests. The individual, family owned the car number, monthly transportation costs, distance rail transportation distance and other factors have significant influence on choice of orbit traffic. Has the certain practical significance to make research on the work demand, travel behavior and travel forecasting measures, and to improve the traffic system, provides some ideas and ease the traffic pressure on the formulation of policy.
