With the development of communication technology, automated meter reading becomes ever increasingly important to power supply enterprises home and abroad, information collecting system in this case was born.Electricity is the most widely used energy, actively involved in each sectors of the economy and every aspect of people’s lives. As national economy growing fast, how to increase the quality and the reliability of power supply and how to realize highly efficient information collection are of the utmost importance. Therefore, the power supply industry is in dire need of automated power measurement, loading control, relay protection, power dispatch, and fault detect and isolation system. Most recently two projects,"urban and rural power grid renewal" and "adding power meter for urban users", are proposed by the power supply institution which allows enough space for these technologies to develop.Automated meter reading system is the very foundation of intelligent service. It is responsible for efficient and real time information collection, sharing and supervision. However, as the automated meter reading application prevails and the ratio of automated meter user increased substantially, the original meter reading supervision and management system is challenged. Many issues emerged from the "blind area" of supervision.Raising from this background and targeting the features of China Power Grid institution, this paper probes into the mechanism of power supply information collection. Based on the principles and detailed studies of the this system, through analyzing the data, anti power theft, the calculation of power loss over transportation, and power assets location information management were discussed in this paper.Regarding the supervision and problems arise from the automated meter reading application discussed in this paper, it is designed on the data analysis of the two core activities that carried out by the Power Supply Institution in Liaoning Province,"Power Supply Marketing System" and "Power Using Information Collection System." Categorized by the nature of the data, these information has been filtered and archived, and then been through the data processor developed from Sybase+HP lazer Server+Linux, before the final report on the problem users is issued.This paper aims at enhancing the internal regulation for the power supply enterprise, establishing the meter reading SOP and then building a sound supervision system to ensure the efficiency and effectiveness of the meter reading work. In general, through the thorough study of power using information collection, this paper will provide solutions and references for the development of intelligent power supply and automated power dispatch system.
