Vehicle handling stability belongs to the category of the vehicle active safety control, is one of the important technical index for performance evaluation. Study on vehicle handling stability is of great importance.Based on a school bus of a company in this paper, with MSC.ADAMS/Car software establish the school bus model including front suspension with leaf springs and rear suspension with coil springs, steering system model, tire model, powertrain model,and body model.Then use VC++6.0and ADAMS/Car as platforms to finish the second development of this type of vehicle dynamic simulation model. And the system can accomplish3functions as follow:parameterized modeling and assembling of the simulation model of full-vehicle automaticly; quickly analyzing of the handling stability performance of full-vehicle based on national standards; automaticly postprocessing and saving of the related results in the form of pictures. By using this system automobile designers can greatly improve the efficiency of automobile design and reduce the workload. All of the function modules established in VC++and finished by calling ADAMS/Car.Finally,use the developed handling stability simulation module to proceed6kinds of handling simulations and evaluations according to the Chinese National Standard including step steering simulation, impulse steering simulation, steer releasing simulation,steady cornering simulation, pylon course simulation and steering portability simulation. The results show:the simulation analysis of handling stability of the vehicle can be completed perfectly by using this developed platform; the school bus meet the requirements for handling and stability performance.Then, the article analyse camber of front wheel, radial stiffness of tires,location of the center of mass and the rotational inertia of the z axis to the effect of the vehicle handling stability. The Results show that the handling stability will be more beneficial if vehicle reduce camber of front wheel,location of the center of mass and the rotational inertia of the z axis, increase radial stiffness of tires.
