| As an important chapter in the history of Chinese architecture development process,modern architecture has a special historical and aesthetic value. Although thegovernment has begun to lay emphasis on the protection of modern buildings, there isstill a lot ofserious damage which is heartbreaking. The research and in-depth analysisabout the status of modern architecture are helpful for its protection and reuse.In his study, basic information about the varanda-style architecture in Wuhu andAnqing should be gathered and investigated. further more, it should treat of everyelement of the elevatory form of veranda, the pillar structure and pillar-matchingprinciples, and then summarize the similarities and differences between theveranda-stylearchitecture in these two cities as the basis of protection and study for thearchitecture in Anhui. In this paper, thirty-six representative veranda-style modernarchitecture in Wuhu and Anqing were chosen for research and mapping, useingsemantic ontology, comparative analysis and other methods to collate inductivly. Thespecific content of this research includes three points: first of all, the plane-type ofmodern veranda-style architecture; second of all,the element and structure of theelevatory form; and the last one is the construction of the elevatory pillar in veranda.After analysis and comparision, the similarities and differences would be brought out,and to comprehend how western culture had influenced the local modern architectureand integrated with traditional style by analyzing the form of element and techniquewhich are emphasized in design. The results of research can be broadly summarized asbellow:1) The settings of modern veranda architecture in Wuhu and Anqing are various.2) Compared with Anqing, Wuhu has a larger number of modern buildings, which areeven more magnificent and elaborate in detail.3) The elements of elevatory form areintegrated with both western and traditional Huizhou style. the form of Western-stylefusion of traditional architecture and Huizhou.4) New materials in modern times wereused-A development both in materials and technique.This study complements on one hand the database of the modern architecture inAnhui, on the other hand, it providestheoretical guidance for protection and utilizationof modern architecture in the future.It also has some reference value and meaning tosummarizing the design discipline of modern veranda-style architecture and howmodern chinese architecture assimilated the western culture. |
