In recent years, the construction industry in our country enters a new mileage and more tower cranes appear in the construction site with the central request to actively yet prudently proceed with the process of urbanization. The increasing number and scattered location of tower crane bring a lot of inconvenience to construction companies and rental managements, at the same time all kinds of tower crane accidents number also increased year after year, thus it is quite necessary to design a convenient lock and control system to tower crane.According to the mentioned above, this article developed a lock and control system to tower crane based on GPRS wireless communication technology using the PC, MCU microcontroller and sensor technology. The system can accomplish the lock control task to tower crane through PC remote control terminal.The remote control terminal with the MCU as the core can receive and analyze the instructions send by the upper machine, and drive the actuators to lock and control tower crane through a SIM card to access GPRS network.In this paper, the scheme of the lock and control system are analyzed and the requirements and performance indicators corresponding to the design of remote control terminal are put forward, the GPRS wireless communication technology in the application of the system was studied as well.In view of the proposals and requirements, the remote control terminal hardware circuit, the infrared obstacle avoidance module and relay module circuit was designed; the monitoring terminal software program which includes control algorithm analysis, communication protocol analysis, modular programming was analyzed and written. A remote monitoring system of upper machine was developed, which includes the function modules and structure of the interface program, communication processing, data processing, packaging and installation of the program.Finally, the whole system was debugged through constructing the experiment platform, including the monitoring center and PC operation, network communications executive control, etc. It shows that this system has realized the basic function of locks and control in tower crane.
