| In the space of urban public environment, squares can be the most expressive and appeal. It not only directly shows the image of the city, but also is the combination of the culture of city history and the local characteristics. The landscape of cultural squares, as a medium, carrying the regional culture characteristic of a city, and the design of which should be combined with local history context, reflecting the unique of local features. This work attempts to, from the perspective of historical context, take a preliminary exploration, under the contemporary urban development, to the regional landscape design method for small and medium-sized city culture squares. In this work the Shaoxing City Square was studied as a case and the main research content is as follows:The first chapter as the introduction part is the basis of the research, mainly about the background, the status at home and abroad, the purpose and significance of the and the research methods and ideas; The second chapter is about the design study of the historical context fitting into small and medium-sized city cultural squares, combining with the external manifestation of culture squares landscape and the historical context of small and medium-sized urban, with the literature research and field investigation, made a conclusion of the regional factors affecting small and medium-sized city culture squares landscape design; The third and fourth chapters are the core parts of the subject, after analyzing the landscape expression of Shaoxing City Square, generalizing the design requirements and strategies for small and medium-sized city squares to fit into the historical context; The fifth chapter is forward thinking and research summary of the Shaoxing City Square, hoping to do some benefit to the preparing for the reconstruction project of Shaoxing City Square; Finally, this thesis formulates a set of guidelines and principles which are to involve the historical context to the design projects of cultural squares in small and medium-sized cities. |
