With the transformation of social economy and changes in consumption status, the roleswomen play in society have changed and women have become the consumption subject. Theyassume dual pressures from both family and career. In pursuit of self value, they are morewilling to release pressures by involving themselves in their personal space with theirself-awareness improving continually. Therefore, women begin to exert increasingly influenceon space. The emergence of women’s leisure clubs provides a platform for women to enjoyleisure entertainment, beauty fitness and shopping consumption.With women as the main research object, this paper, based on the principle ofpeople-oriented design and from multiple elements of women’s aesthetic and emotional needs,firstly clarifies and defines women’s leisure clubs, analyses reasons for the boom andclassification of the industry, on the basis of which the paper also elucidates the necessity ofwomen’s leisure clubs. Secondly, in light of women’s needs for leisure clubs, the special group,women’s feeling of space is discussed from the perspectives of psychological, aesthetic, andemotional needs respectively. Thirdly, through thorough analysis of the indoor space sensoryelements, spatial layout, and emotional experience involved in women’s leisure clubs andrelevant cases, the exploration of relevant theories are conducted and some conclusions ondesign representation techniques are made. Finally, the analysis of the classic case contributesto detecting the problems of current leisure clubs. Meanwhile, by the review of domestic andforeign theories on space design of leisure clubs, it proposes that leisure space design shouldtake women’s aesthetic, private, diverse and ecological features into consideration.
