This paper is fruit of the GC6t new CAB project. The old GC Series CAB is no longer qualified for the growing demands on comfortableness, sealing and safety. According to the new machine development plan, new CAB was designed and one prototype was reviewed. Now the new CAB get through the review and is under mass production.This paper is divided into three main parts. In the first part, all disadvantages of the current CAB are analyzed, e.g. the monitor is too low for driver to observe, the looking of interior is old and some positions of control components are not convenient. After the analysis, the paper studied the basic theory of Man-Machine Engineering and rules for CAB design. Also, latest Human Body Dimensions and new virtual design methods in CAB design are studied in the paper. After all these studies, the way how the new design should be carried out is decided and criteria for design are identified. In the second part of the paper, all components related to the Man-Machine Engineering design is created virtually in Pro/Engineer, including the structure of the CAB, the interior, control components, operator’s seat and the virtual human body. Along with the design, the paper checked the views from the virtual operator, gestures for all possible control movements, operator space envelop, convenience during primary and secondary control. All these checks are done virtually in software Pro/Engineer. Detailed checks also include position of design H-point, dimensions of operator’s seat and the height of the seat, zones of comfort and reach for control, arrangement of monitor and control, minimum control dimensions and operation force. In addition, this paper also covers style design of CAB and interior, color design, safety design of the CAB, ventilating and air conditioning, NVH design and other humanization design. In the third part, the theory of fuzzy was used to assess the degree of comfort of the new CAB and degree of satisfaction of new CAB is calculated through weighted algorithm. After the design and review work of the new CAB, the paper summarized principles and design rules for the excavator CAB design based on Man-Machine engineering. The paper used a new virtual design method and made it a standard method in the company. In the end, the newly design CAB passed the prototype review and it entered mass production phase. |
