The modern university building history of our country can be traced back tothe early twentieth century, it has developed through many social construction nodelike before the founding of the county, early days of the county, medium-term of thecounty and the reform and opening up of the county. Into the21st century, China’srapid development of higher education makes the challenge for the universitycampus construction. The campus located in the main area of the city has a longhistory, the center gravity of construction transfer to the new campus, the expansionof new education and teaching function bring the requirements for futureconstruction. So faced with the contradiction between the present situation of thecampus and future development, the most important thing is thinking the way to fitwith the current campus update, continuing the morphology of the campus andconcerning the preservation value.Firstly, the article take the campus in the main area of Nanjing as the researchobject, focused on the future development, form the view of the campus overallmorphology, combined with the regional characteristics, to explore the feasibility ofcampus update strategy.Divided the campus into two categories, the campus whichadjust on the existing foundation and the campus which build after the new country.Selected the campus instances to conduct research and collect the data. Through thecarding and analysis of campus overall morphology, from the elements of “axis”,“group”,“frame”,“cluster” to analysis the content, comparing the commonalitiesand differences between the them, summed up the update law of the campus in themain area of Nanjing. Then, use the law to investigate the way that adapted thecampus update, explore new ideas for the use of the building cycle regularity, makean inventory of the assets of the campus, through the preparation of the foundation,the collation of ideas and the implementation of the strategy. The thesis as theexample of2011Planning of Hehai University Qingliang Mountain Campus, usethe previous research results to verify the feasibility of strategy basing on thecarding and analysis the problem of the campus.The research of the overall morphology updated of university campus of themain city of Nanjing focus on the summary and application of the law. Explore thenew way to solve the practical problems of campus. Save the campus’ style,heritage campus context and open up new ideas for the future development of theuniversities.
