Study On Function Orientation In Revitalizing Of Historic Conservation Area In Nanjing

The historic conservation area in China has been posed great importance on. As aresult, a relativly complete conservation system has been established and anagreement has been reached on techniques and methods of the conservation laws andregulations. Currently, the reuse of the historic area has attacted great attention fromthe society. However, there are many controversys on the method. It is believed thatthe primary problem is the function orientation of the conservation area. The secondproblem is the method of revitalizing. Only by providing the correct judement of thefucntion of historic conservation area can we choose the right methods of revitalizingto protect historic conservation area and can we promote the heritage anddevelopment of historic conservation area.As one of the most ancient cities and the first bathc of famous historic cities inChian, Nanjing has a great number of historic conservation areas with diversitfiedfunction and charactristics in differernt time in history. They represent their uniquefeatures among other cities in China. By doing research on the function orientation ofthe revitalizing of the historic conservation areas can demonstrate a smaple for thefuture stuties.The first part of paper (the first and second chapter) is about the background ofthe current history and culture protection. This paper introduces the significance ofthe research, the content and the framework and method of the research. Basicresearch identifies the concept of the histroic conservation areas and renaissance. Italso explains and concluds relative law and regulation, theory and the development ofresearch.Part two (chapter3) gives analyses of the current status of histroicconservation areas in Nanjing. First of all, it introduces the changes in planning ofhistroic conservation areas and the general situtaiton. Second, it analysis in details ofeach of the current status of histroic conservation area in Nanjing. Based on the twoanalyses, it comes up with a conclusion of the characteristics and problems of thecurrent renaissance of the blocks. The third part of the thesis (chapter4) analysises the factors of impact ofhistroic conservation areas in Nanjing, including law, regulation, the overall plan ofthe city, the development skeme of downtown, historical function, the currentconservation status, public opinions and so on.Part four (chapter5) is the key part of this paper. Firstly, it studies related casesboth at home and abroad. Second, it analyses the drive behind the renaissance of thehistoric conservation areas in Nanjing, based on which the princial is put forward.Also, it gives general suggestion on the function of the renaissance and specificanalysis and suggestion on the function of three specific histroic conservation areas.Part five (chapter6) is the conclusion of this paper and shortage.
