The thesis is one of sub tasks of the professor Wang Yongpin’s project that founded byNational Natural Science Foundation of China.Qinghai-Tibet Plateau is the highest area over the entire world. Changdu locates on eastTibet and borders on Sichuan and Qinghai. Geographically, Changdu likes the front door ofQinghai-Tibet Plateau. The residential building there appears unique style because of itsunique location, natural environment, climate characteristics and folk customs of East Tibet.With its great regional architectural forms and creation, residential areas of east Tibet turnedinto a typical Kangba building.The main topic discussed in this paper is the residential art decoration of east Tibet. Theresearch based on the typical residential building, located at east Tibet, which is full of theregional characteristic and worth to protect. By considering the local religion and the culturalintegration caused by special geographical location, the paper explores the culture andfeatures of residential building in Eastern Tibet, as well as the comparison and analysis oftheir impact on the residential building in Eastern Tibet and the reflection in architecturaldecoration..The paper consists of six chapters. The first chapter is the overall introduction of project,including the project scenario, concepts, purpose and the methodology used for researching.The second chapter is the brief review of geographical environment and local culture of eastTibet. Chapter three provides case study results for decorative components of residentialbuilding in Eastern Tibet, which based on the typical architecture examples. And this chapteralso expatiates on the comparison of architecture decoration between residential building inEastern Tibet and religious building. Chapter four discusses the decorative patterns,respectively focuses on religious motifs, plants, animals, utensils and etc. Chapter fivesummarizes the color structure used by residential building in Eastern Tibet, via thecomparison to discuss the application of color in the architecture. The last chapter concludesthe residential building in Eastern Tibet of multiple cultural phenomena and the reflection inarchitectural decoration.
