In recent years, because of the evolvement of the urbanization process in China, there is aurgent demand for a better Urban Rail Transit System (URTS).To meet this increasing demand,many cities in China have made ambitious URTS construction plans, the governments areserious about building up advanced, completed and reliable Urban Rail Transit Systems. This isthe golden era in for URTS industry and other industries that are related. Platform Edge Door(PED) is a very important subsystem of the URTS, by applying PED system on platform, it couldimprove the safety situation, beautify the platform environment and saving operational electricity,etc. PED have already become a standard subsystem which are necessary in any new URTSconstruction project, for those old lines that don’t have PED systems, there are plans to installPED system on the platforms in the future.In this article, there are detailed descriptions on the status quo and demand of the PEDindustry, and the author particularly selected the PED control system as the main target forfurther research. The framework of the PED control system, the priority of each vital controlsignal and the ways to send control commands to every Door Control Unit (DCU) are carefullyanalyzed. By carrying out the PED installation project for15Taipei Metro stations, a lot ofnew design are applied and tested and new technology are used to solve old problems. Combinetheory analysis with actual project experience, this thesis introduces how to develop a completedPED control system that is highly reliable, stable and informationized.The core content of this thesis can be concluded in to three parts:1, Proposing the framework of the PED control system, analyzing the outer interface andthe priority sequence of commanding signals, then accomplish an innovative design for thecontrol cable system and introduce how to realize the logistic decision making function and datatransmission function by using Programmable Logic Controller (PLC);2, According to truth state of affairs in the project environment that quite a lot negativevoltage impulse interferences (NVII) happen all the time and some of them may cause themalfunction of the display system. A chapter in this article discusses the characteristic and sourceof the NVII, and shows how to prevent NVII leading to system malfunction by using thetime-band filtering technology.3, In order to real time monitoring the operational status of the PED system and save all the data for further analysis, an Integrated Information Monitoring and Processing System is needed.This thesis introduced how to develop a monitoring system by running software on IndustrialPersonal Computer (IPC) which has Windows XP operating system pre-installed. TheMonitoring Software (MS) is developed by using C#program language in Visual Studio2010environment. MS provides a Human Machine Interface (HMI) that allows people to observe thereal time status of the whole PED system, and a searching access for people to inquire the historyinformation. The application of MS makes the maintenance job much easier and alert staff toreplace fault devices before they actually break down.
