For a long time, the checking and maintenance of power lines corridor mainly depends on laboring outdoor works, the method is not only inefficient, but also unsafe, which can’t meet the need of the progress of modern power grid and the safe operation, so a high efficient, safe and advanced mode of electric power line inspection method is urgently needed to the power department.Airborne Light Detection and Ranging(airborne LiDAR) technology brought a new way for electric power line inspection. Compared with the traditional measurement system, airborne LiDAR system has its unique technical advantages, which can directly obtain the point cloud of power line corridor, and high-precision 3D spatial information, and then obtain the whole information of 3D power lines corridor, such as facilities of lines, the features of accurate three-dimensional spatial information, and so on. Now, LiDAR has been widely used in electric power line safety inspection. For example, automatic power line safety detection, one of the important contents in power line patrol, is based on airborne laser point cloud data.It can directly confirm the defective area, which not only save a lot of time, but also eliminates the potential unsafe problems. This is the research objective of this dissertation.First,this paper discusses different methods about power line extraction and analyzes the advantages and disadvantages of each method. On this basis, select KD tree clustering power line extraction method to extract the power line. The concrete research content and extraction processing includes: adopted semi-automatic method to extract power line points and most points outside the tower; Removed the tower points by measuring the three-dimensional coordinate of top tower center; Extract power line according to KD tree clustering method and fit the power line point cloud using the principle of the least squares method, and achieved good results. On the basis of the above work, study the power line safe distance detection by extract power line points and ground feature points, the main research content and achievement includes:This paper analyzed and compared power line safe distance detection methods using low-altitude aerial data, then proposed an automatic detection method for the power lines safe distance using airborne LIDAR data. Obtaining the highest point through the grid-regularized ground points, then make the buffer using the highest point, calculate the distance between the highest point and each power line points within the buffer zone, find all points of within safe distance. This experiment shows that this method can effectively identify the presence of hidden problems.Combine the estimation of tree growth in the forestry and power line safe distance detection.Estimate tree growth in the last two years by existing data using GAM model. The estimation results are resubstituted into the power line corridor points, and further to find the existence of hidden problems so that can warn and forecast power line unsafety.
